PPP Point-to-Point protocol is the protocol used for communication between 2 computers using a serial connection. Since modems use a serial connection, this is a method for computers to connect to the Internet. PPP uses the TCP/IP protocol. PPP actually packages your computer's TCP/IP packets and forwards them to your ISPs servers so that they are put onto the Internet. PPP is a full-duplex connection, and is for the most part a standard in connecting to the Internet. For more information on PPP: |
