Internetwork Packet Exchange (IPX) is a networking protocol used in Novell Operating Systems. IPX is a packet protocol and does not require a constant connection to work.

Sequenced Packet Exchange (SPX) is a transport layer that is also used in Novell Netware networks. SPX runs on top of IPX's layer and provides services between two nodes on a network that require a connection. SPX is used mainly for client/server applications.
