Intel Intel Corp. is one of the world's largest manufacturer of computer chips. They are most known for their microprocessors. Despite AMD's recent comeback in the market, Intel is still leading the market for PC processors. Intel has many different families of processors, including the Pentium, Pentium II, and the Pentium III. Intel was formed in 1968 by Bob Noyce and Gordon Moore. Intel is somewhat allied with Microsoft since Microsoft Windows is designed around Intel's x86 architecture. Most any of Intel's processors are referred to as x86 chips, because the first families were numbered starting with 8086. Intel also manufacturers chipsets that are used for other devices, such as motherboards. For more information on Intel Corp. |
